The GST PORTAL Goes Live

The GST portal“www.gst.gov.in” as planned was launched on November 8, 2016. Goods & Service Tax Network “GSTN” will begin issuing GST identity numbers i.e. Temporary Identification Number (TIN) and generating passwords for these

taxpayers. The portal will be a one-stop destination for filing and processing of all taxes for almost 65 to 70 lakh tax payers in the country and is being designed by a specialised design unit of Infosys.

The GSTN has come out with detailed procedures for the initial registrations at the portal for existing indirect tax assessee with timelines for the set of different states to phase outgradually into the new portal.The Indian Government is working hard to meet their timelines for the roll out of GST in India from 1st April of 2017.
