GST Registration for Metal Scrap Buyers: Advisory Update

GST REG-07 Form and Registration Compliance for Metal Scrap Dealers

The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued an update to streamline registration compliance for metal scrap dealers through the GST REG-07 form. This advisory, issued on 13th October, introduces new provisions for GST registration for metal scrap buyers.

Taxpayers in this category are required to select “Others” in Part B of Table 2 under the “Constitution of Business” section.

A text box will then appear, where the taxpayer is required to enter “Metal Scrap Dealers”. This entry is mandatory for those choosing the “Others” option in Table 2. After completing this step, the remaining details in the GST REG-07 form must be filled and submitted through the common portal.

This requirement aligns with Notification No. 25/2024 – Central Tax, dated October 9, 2024.

GSTN has urged metal scrap buyers to complete this process promptly to ensure metal scrap dealers GST compliance and avoid non-compliance penalties.

Advisory on Bank Account Validation under GST

Further, another advisory has been issued in relation to validation of Bank account details,

The GSTN has implemented a validation process for cases where a taxpayer attempts a non-core amendment to update bank account details. Taxpayers are requested to follow the procedure outlined in the link provided below while adding bank account details on the portal.
