Income tax dept launches AIS mobile app

The Income Tax Department has through a press release on 22 March 2023, released a mobile app to be called as "AIS for Taxpayer" to make it convenient for taxpayers to access and view the Annual Information Statement (AIS)/ Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS).

Further, the app will enable taxpayers to view information related to TDS/ TCS, interest, dividends, share transactions, tax payments, income tax refunds, and other information including GST Data, and Foreign Remittances, as available with AIS/ TIS. The taxpayer also has the facility to provide feedback on the information displayed through the app. 

To use and access this mobile app, the taxpayer needs to register himself on the app by following the following steps:

1. Open Google Play & App Store on your phone and download the ‘AIS for Taxpayer’ app;  
2. Now enter your PAN and date of your birth, then check the box next to the terms and conditions and tap on ‘PROCEED’;
3. Then enter your mobile number and email address (same as per the e-filing portal);
4. Tap on 'Confirm', when the pop-up screen will appear;
5. You will receive two separate OTPs on your registered mobile number and email ID. Enter the OTPs received and tap on 'Verify;
6. Now choose and enter your 4-digit MPIN and tap on 'Next.';
7. Re-enter the MPIN, and tap on 'Confirm.'

There will be a maximum of five attempts allowed for the user to enter the OTP correctly. The user's account will be locked for 24 hours if the user is unable to enter the correct OTP, within the allowed number of attempts.
