New CSR-2 Filing Deadline under MCA Notification

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), vide its Notification No. G.S.R. 587(E) dated 24th September 2024, has announced an updated CSR-2 filing deadline. Companies to which the provisions of Corporate Social Responsibility compliance apply must now furnish a CSR report in e-Form CSR-2 to the Registrar of Companies for the financial year 2023-24 separately, on or before 31st December 2024, after filing Form No. AOC-4 or Form No. AOC-4-NBFC (Ind AS), as specified in these rules, or Form No. AOC-4 XBRL as per the Companies (Filing of Documents and Forms in Extensible Business Reporting Language) Rules, 2015.

Applicability of CSR-2 Filing for Companies

This requirement applies to all companies falling under the CSR provisions of the Companies Act, making Companies Act CSR reporting a critical compliance obligation.

    Background on CSR-2 Compliance Requirements

Earlier, the Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014, were amended in 2022 to mandate CSR-2 as an addendum to AOC-4. However, in 2023, this was changed to require separate CSR-2 filings after AOC-4 submissions for FY 2022-23, with a deadline of March 31, 2024.

Updated CSR-2 Due Date for FY 2023-24

The latest amendment now sets the CSR-2 due date December 2024 as the final reporting timeline for CSR obligations for FY 2023-24. Businesses must ensure timely e-Form CSR-2 filing 2023-24 to remain compliant.
