Reduced Business Set up and license renewal fees in Abu Dhabi

 

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi, UAE has reduced the business set up and license renewal fees to AED 1,000 only. The notification by the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) on 25 July 2021 states:

“As part of ongoing efforts to enable the private sector, #AbuDhabi has reduced business setup fees to AED1,000 – a 94 per cent reduction from current rates.”

This is a welcome initiative by the ADDED in collaboration with other government entities including the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI). The new fees shall be applicable with effect from 27 July 2021. The ADDED has also clarified that the fees payable to the federal authorities shall remain unchanged.

The ADDED anticipates this move to significantly boost business in the emirate and enhance both its domestic and global competitiveness. It will also support the government’s focus on creating a thriving business environment for the private sector.

The fixed fee reduction will reduce administrative procedures and increase transparency for investors. The new reduced fees is applicable for six (6) activities within the business license and shall cover all fees from the ADDED, the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), the membership fees for the ADCCI, the issuance fees for the Certificate of Conformity (the CoC) as well as the fees to regulatory bodies depending on the business type.

Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the ADDED said : “We hope this significant change in fee structure helps to further ease the setup process for new and existing investors. Our goal for Abu Dhabi, as part of our new economic strategy, is to create a thriving business environment that encourages growth and innovation. Ease of starting and managing a business is a key lever and we strongly believe the restructuring of fees will help us achieve this goal”.

This move is expected to attract a lot of investments not only in Abu Dhabi but also the entire UAE.
