News from the desk of Ministry of Labour and Employment
The Central Government, after being satisfied that public interest requires that the industry engaged in the services in any oilfield, which is covered under item 17 of the First Schedule to the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 (14 of 1947), to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act; has issued a notification in the official gazette dated 07th July, 2021 (“the Notification”) for the purpose of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the 12th October, 2020, vide notification of the Government of India in the Ministry of Labour and Employment, number S.O. 3549(E), dated the 12th October, 2020;
Consequently, the Central Government is of the opinion that public interest requires the extension of the public utility service status to the said industry for a further period of six months; therefore, the Central Government has declared the industry engaged in the services in any oilfield to be a public utility service for the purposes of the said Act for a period of six months with effect from the date of publication of this notification i.e. 07th July, 2021.
